Latest from Antigua Met Office

Last updated: 2026-02-07 23:40 AST

The axis of a cold front is located in the vicinity of the bvis this evening and is providing cloudy skies with some showers

Based on evening reports from the bvi which supports latest satellite and radar imagery.

Meanwhile, the leewards remain under a weak ridge where relatively stable conditions exist. For the next 24 hours: the front is forecast to be pushed east-southeastwards over anguilla during the next 12 hours before slowing its movement in the vicinity of barbuda and st. Kitts and nevis by tomorrow night. Latest model data does not show that his will be a huge rainmaker because of the vertical moisture profile; nonetheless, light widespread rain is still anticipated during the next 24 hours over those islands it traverses.

Meanwhile, by tomorrow, a strong northerly breeze with cooler and drier conditions will sweep over the bvi. No significant impacts are anticipated from the front. Antigua and montserrat will remain under the influence of the ridge where mostly stable conditions will persist. A lighter breeze is forecast over antigua and montserrat; however, the chance of afternoon buildups is expected to be low because of the dry conditions forecast.

The latest information is consistent with the latest issued forecast for the islands territories. On the marine front, long period swells are on the way to the islands. The conditions could reach warning levels mid-week thereby rendering the waters unsafe foe sea bathing activities.
